Øhavsladen
A historic barn on South Funen, reborn as a living workshop for traditional timber craft
On Skårupørevej in Skårup stands the remains of a barn from 1850. The building is beyond repair. The roof leaks, the structural timbers are rotten, the facade is collapsing. But the footprint, the proportions, and the position in the landscape remain. Øhavsladen is a project to replace the old barn with a new, hand-built timber frame structure on the same footprint — constructed with traditional Scandinavian and Baltic timber framing methods. The finished building will serve as workshop, teaching space, and cultural gathering point for craft on South Funen.
