On foot, by bike, or just curious
Øhavsladen sits where South Funen's experiences already pass by. The name is no accident: the barn lies by the South Funen Archipelago, with the Archipelago Trail along the coast below the fields.

On the Archipelago Trail
Øhavsstien is one of Denmark's longest hiking trails: 220 km in seven stages through the South Funen Archipelago. Between Svendborg and Lundeborg the trail follows the coast at Skårupøre Sound, a few hundred meters from the barn. Hikers will be able to watch the timber frame rise from the trail, and later stop by on open workshop days.
On the Baltic Sea Cycle Route
National cycle route N8, the Baltic Sea Cycle Route, ties South Funen to the rest of Denmark and crosses its figure-eight in Svendborg. The area is part of the Geopark's push for cycling tourism, and Øhavsladen will make a natural stop: water, shade, and something worth watching.
Inside a UNESCO Global Geopark
Since 2024 the South Funen Archipelago has been a UNESCO Global Geopark: 2,700 km² of drowned ice-age landscape, 551 km of coastline, and a story in which living cultural heritage plays a leading role. A working timber frame barn, built with the same techniques as the region's own farm buildings, is exactly that kind of living heritage.
What you can experience now
Right now Øhavsladen is a building project in preparation. The timber is air-drying in Latvia and the groundwork is underway. The raising of the frame will be the project's first big public moment: a piece of craftsmanship you would otherwise travel far to see. Follow the updates or join the newsletter to hear about it first.
